Dr. Paul Morgan
What's the talk about?
Dr. Paul Morgan is a consultant intensivist in the Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board, working at the University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough. He is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2012, Paul was elected as Chair of the Welsh Intensive Care Society. Much of his clinical work involves treating patients with sepsis, which typically accounts for a third of all admissions to intensive care units. Sepsis kills more people in the UK each year than the combined total deaths from breast, bowel and prostate cancer. Survivors are often left with significant physical and psychological long-term damage.
Paul's talk will discuss various aspects of sepsis, from the bare statistics through the consequences to the individual and examining how sepsis can be prevented, recognised earlier and best treated.
Entry is £3 on the door.
